Will You Be My Valentine?
“Will you be my valentine?”
Said the smitten porcupine?
“What? You say I’m prickly?
Don’t point that out, my dear.
None of us is without flaw,
Not even you, I fear.
Will you be my Valentine?”
Said the smitten porcupine.
“What? I am not huggable?
But that’s a mere objection.
There are countless other ways
Of showing our affection.
Will you be my Valentine?”
Said the smitten porcupine.
“What? You say I’ve won your heart?
You’ll love me evermore?
Beyond my quills you see I am
A softie at my core?
You will be my Valentine?”
Said the smitten porcupine.
“What? You’ll even marry me?
I’ll be your joyful groom?
Darling skunk, I’ve one request-
Back off on your perfume.”

Proof that there’s someone for everyone as long as we’re willing to overlook a thing or two. Adorable, Iza! HAHA!
That’s right, Renee. My husband’s untrimmed nose hairs and my talking with my mouth full- mere objections
Thanks! Have a happy day.

Wishing you lots of love on Valentine’s Day and everyday!
Haha! Cathy! I am so glad you like it, Lots of love to you as well, my friend!
My darling Iza,
Thank You for ignoring my nose hares. They tend to often run away with the show and then hide behind nostrils. I do love you in spite of your occasionally being incomprehensible but I’m sure that is only my poor hearing from too many years of shop noise.
Happy valentines Day my True Love!
Oops, my darling Rob, I didn’t think you’d read this since you already heard the poem. But that’s one of the many reasons why I love you so much. You read my blog! I hope the nose “hares” reference didn’t offend you. I was quick to point out my talking with my mouth full. I hope my incomprehensibility is only on those occasions
Happy mushy Valentines day, MY true love.
Be my Valentine? I loved the poem. You always have something special and heart warming. Hope you are well. Love you

Thank you, Linda!I got to the “point” at the end
Oh brilliant twist at the end, love this, Iza!
Thanks Cathy!I had a good guffaw at the punchline when I read it to my husband, so I knew I was onto something good. Usually he is not so effusive
Oh Iza, this is so cute. I can imagine this in a picture book and the lovely images that are bound to accompany it. This poem definitely made me smile today.
I am so glad, Myra. Thank you!
Hahaha. This poem is so much fun. It needs to be a picture book. You know that right? And what a fantastic ending! GENIUS! BBF, I love it! And the picture is PRECIOUS! You made my heart smile a mile. I hope your Valentines Day was lovely!
Thank you, BBF! I am always happy to make your heart smile
So glad you enjoyed it. Mwah! xoxo
This porcupine has a “point” – he is a “softie at his core”. Love, love, love this poem. =)
I was trying to write a poem to the skunk that has taken up residence in my backyard. Your porcupine poem is really great – I’m going to keep working on mine.
Hi Andromeda! Oh no! Is the skunk wearing too much perfume?:-) I hope you’ll share your poem when it’s done. Thanks!
Thanks Bridget! And I LOVE yours!
What fun! I would fall in love with sweet and tenacious creature like that, no matter how prickly!
Yes, Violet, a softie at the core is always a good bet! Thanks
Adorable!
I’m attempting to type with a bird sitting on the keyboard who thinks my fingernails are good for chewing. I’d rather have a smitten porcupine!
Haha, Tabatha! What kind of a bird do you have?
A lovebird. She is just a few months old, though, so she goes through “interesting” phases
A lovebird? How perfect! She must bring you so much joy and amusement!
Ha! Fun ending!! Gotta love a persistent porcupine!
Thanks, Mary Lee! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It took a while before I got to the point!
I love the ending, Iza. Such fun. I happen to think porcupines are adorable.
Thank you, Jone! Yes, I think they are adorable too. I love the way they walk
Sweet poem, Iza. A lovelorn porcupine — what a perfect imperfect character!
Thank you, Laura!
