OK, Whodunit?

On friday I received a letter with no return address. I opened it up and inside was this lovely hand-painted card:Jambo and Sneak cardThere was no note, but the sender clearly knew me and my pets- as this is a great depiction of our Mastiff, Jambo, and our cat, Sneak. Here is what they look like in real life:Jambo and Sneak

Now, I immediately assumed this thoughtful card was from the super talented Julie Rowan-Zoch, who draws and paints all sorts of wonderful and whimsical critters. And, Julie knew that poor Jambo was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and that I was heartbroken.

I sent her an effusive thank you note to which she replied: “Sorry, Iza, I didn’t send you anything!…”

Dumfounded, I began to search for clues, and, sure enough, the postmark was from Minneapolis- not the city or state where Julie lives.

So, now I have a mystery to solve. Here are the facts of the case: This person is thoughtful.  This person is a talented artist.  This person knows me and my pets. In fact, this person knows that I have one dog and one cat and not the two dogs that appear on my un-updated website (our Aussie, Grommit, died a few years ago.) This person has my mailing address. This person either resides in Minneapolis, was visiting Minneapolis, or sent the card to someone in Minneapolis to send to me. This person is sneaky!

Peeps, can you help me solve this case?

Or, dear sender of this card, will you turn yourself in, so that justice- in the form of a proper thank you- can be served?

  1. Thanks for the kind words, Iza! The resemblance to Jambo is quite good, and my sister used to live in MN, but moved about 9 yrs ago.

  2. The resemblance is fantastic. BBF, I hope that you find out who gave you this wonderful present. I’m so sorry about the bone cancer, BBF. I wish I could do something for you. I know this is so painful for you. :( Love and smooches. Email me if you need to talk. I’m always here for you. xoxoxo

It’s a great resemblance! I do want to know this mystery artist! Thank you so much, BBf, for your love and support. Life does present challenges, doesn’t it? Jambo is doing ok so far and we are treasuring every minute with him. He is comfortable, and eating well, playing and walking a bit. he’s definitely slowed down, but that is to be expected…xoxoxo

  3. Oh my gosh! What a marvelous mystery! And what a talented artist :) Julie would have been my first guess… especially since she asked me for your address recently… but since it’s not her, I don’t know. Keep us posted if you get more clues or figure it out! And hugs and kisses to you and Jambo – I hope he’s feeling okay!

    • Iza Trapani says:

Thank you, Susanna, birthday girl! I hope you are having a beautiful day! Jambo is doing ok- slowing down but still enjoying short walks, great meals and lots of loving. I was certain the card was from Julie… I hope we can solve this case!

  4. This is certainly a mystery. Yes, keep us posted. I love the artwork, especially Jambo’s eyes. And, I’m so sorry about Jambo.

    • Iza Trapani says:

Penny, thank you. So sad for Jambo, but he is getting spoiled rotten with delicious meals, treats, massages and extra loving…I’m savoring each moment with my bud. And I love the card as well. The eyes are great!

  5. Still not revealed? Hmm…

Hope Jambo is doing well and that the A.A. (Anonymous Artist) is soon revealed!

    • Iza Trapani says:

Thank you, Cathy! Jambo is hanging in. Today we started palliative acupuncture, Chinese herbs and a special diet. So happy we’ve had 3 other vets wholeheartedly agree with our decision not to amputate. That would have been way to much for him.
And yes, I hope that A.A is revealed too!

  6. Hi Iza,
What a wonderful mystery to solve. I have no clue who it could be. But it was a thoughtful gesture. I do hope your Jambo will recover. It’s heartbreaking knowing a “family member” is hurting.

  7. rhythm says:

I love a good mystery! I hope that you have solved it by now. Sounds like Jambo is getting the best of the best. You are a good person.

    • Iza Trapani says:

No, the sneaky artist has not turned him/herself in….Thank you for the kind words, Rhythm.I think Jambo is comfortable, well-fed and loved to pieces. Poor, sick boy. He doesn’t deserve this…

  8. Rats, I was hoping that by the time I reached the end of the comments the mystery would have been solved! It’s such a wonderful illustration. Many hugs to you and to Jambo.

  9. really? no sign of the sneaky artist yet??

    i wish i did it.

maybe the sneak will send you another!!
